Chess General Championship rules

Dates of Tournament - 1st and 2nd March 2023 (Saturday, Sunday)


Format - 15 min + 10 secs increment per move from move 1.
FIDE Rules hold.

Team Composition:
1) Team can be containing a maximum of 5 players with a playing 4.
2) Teams must submit the board orders on the day of the event.
3) Each Team must contain a fresher.
4) Each Team can’t contain more than 2 Inter IIT Players at maximum.

The events consist of two parts, the initial qualifier and the knockout part.

Qualifier :
1) This will be a Swiss Team Tournament consisting of 4 rounds.
2) This will happen on 1st April 2023.
3) The top 8 teams will qualify to the Knockout round.
4) This is to save time and justifiably remove the teams.

Knockout :
1) This will be a knockout round consisting of best of 2 for each round. To be more
clear, let’s say A is paired against B, Team A won 2 and Team B won 0 or any
majority will be announced a direct win. Incase of tie, we will have a armageddon
breakdown with player of board 1 of both the teams.
2) This will happen on 2nd April 2023.
3) Pairings will be as follows:

Round 3:

1 Winner of Board 1 Winner of Board 2

2 Loser of Board 1 Loser of Board 2

Round 4:

1 Loser of Board 1 Winner of Board 2

Standings :
1) Winner of Board 1 at Round 3
2) Winner of Board 1 at Round 4
3) Loser of Board 1 at Round 4

Winners shall also get free merchandises.

#NOTE: The tournament shall be extended by a day if in case of time constraints. We are
doing our best to have everything supervised. Hope you guys also do come and enjoy.
