1. What is the story behind The Arabian Nights (One Thousand and One Nights)? 

The narrative in The Arabian Nights comes right out of a love story. The Islamic
Golden Age is when this epic collection of Arabic folktales was composed. Shahryar is the
ruler of a vast empire, but he is grieving after being mocked by an unfaithful wife.
Shahryar made the decision to wed a different lady every day, only to murder her the
following morning.

2. Choose one story, (Aside from the assigned with the discussants) then, analyze it using the
Moralistic Approach and identify what Literary Appeal/s and Function/s is/are reflected from
the story chosen.

Moralistic Approach
The story follows a young prince who visits various planets in space, including
Earth, and addresses themes of loneliness, friendship, love, and loss. The moral of the
story is that taking on the obligations that come with connections with people leads to a
better understanding and respect of one's responsibilities to society at large.

Literary Appeal
The literary appeal of the story is Humanistic Appeal because it makes the
reader an improve person with a better outlook in life and read with a clear
understanding of a person’s inner life.

Function

The function of the story is political and social function because the story teaches that the
responsibility demanded by relationships with others leads to a greater understanding and
appreciation of one's responsibilities to the world in general.
