A. Readings/Discussions
Hello Kids! How are you? We are going to learn about
RHYMING WORDS today. Come on, let us learn and have fun!
Let us read a story.

A Visit to Grandma
By: J. D. Quijano

One day, my cousins Jofrel, Jule and I visited our

teacher grandmother. She is a storyteller. We enjoyed visiting
in her house.

1
Every time we visited our grandmother, she let us listen to
nursery rhymes, songs, and poems.

Let us listen to the nursery rhyme.

Number Rhyme

One, two, three, four, five,

Once I caught a fish alive,
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
Then I let it go again.

Why did you let it go?

Because it bit my finger so.
Which finger did it bite?
The little finger on my right.

2
Let us answer the following questions:

1. Where did the cousins visit?

2. What did the cousins enjoy in their grandmother’s
house?
3. What is the title of the nursery rhyme?
4. What are the words with same ending sounds found in
the nursery rhyme?
5. What do you call these pair of words?

Rhyming words are two or more words that have the same
or similar ending sound.

When you are figuring out if two words rhyme, use your ears
to listen as you say the words. If they sound the same or
similar, they rhyme.

Some examples of rhyming words from the nursery rhyme

” Number Rhyme” are:

five – alive
ten – again
go – so
bite- right

Most of rhyming words are found at the end of the

line of a nursery rhyme, song, and poem.

Let us learn more rhyming words from the following nursery

rhymes and songs.
