1: What changes would be likely to take place if the absolute thresholds for vision and
hearing were changed so that could see infrared and ultraviolet light and hear sounds up to
50,000 cycles per second? (Consider lighting systems, the design of stereo equipment, and
so forth?

Answer…..A variety of research programs have found that subliminal stimuli can influence our
judgments and behavior, at least in the short term. . Hearing sounds up to 50,000 cycles per
second is an extremely high tone that humans cannot hear and can also affect (damage) the ear.

2: Give an example from your own life of an undesirable id impulse overcoming the ego’s
restrictions.

Answer…The id is driven by the pleasure principle which strives for immediate gratification of
all desires, wants, and needs. 1 if these needs are not satisfied immediately, the result is a state of
anxiety or tension. For example, an increase in hunger or thirst should produce an immediate
attempt to eat or drink.

3: Do you consider classroom grades rein forcers or a form of threatened punishment (or
both)? Why? What changes would you like to see in rein forcers available in the class
room?

Answer…..Natural rein forcers: rein forcers that occur directly as a result of the behavior
(example; a student studies hard and does well on her exams, resulting in good grades).

4: If you were forced to give up either STM or LTM, which would you choose? Why?
Think carefully about your response.

Answer… I would give up on my STM because information’s moves from STM to LTM when
it’s encoded and LTM allows us to store information’s for long period of time so I would choose
to have a LTM.

5: What would be the advantage and disadvantage of being emotionless?

Answer…Feeling emotionless can often be a symptom of mental health problems, such as

depression, anxiety and post-traumatic disorder so it’s not something to dismiss or downplay. In
these cases, seeking the help of a professional is crucial.
