Combat Gender Inequality

Gender inequality is the unequal and discriminatory treatment of people based on gender. This
inequality exists as a result of socially and culturally constructed gender roles. It occurs when an
individual of one gender is treated differently or worse than an individual of the opposite gender
in the same situation. Gender disparity has existed since prehistoric times, and for many years,
men were the dominant gender while women were the minority. Furthermore, no attention is
given to their capabilities and rights. Primarily because men made the most money and women
were responsible for taking care of the house and children without being given the opportunity
to work. Gender inequality is still a serious concern around the world. Yet, as time passed, things
began to change gradually, although the problem remains to the present day. Women
experienced inferiority, and society did not value women's thoughts and perspectives.
Inequality between men and women is one of the reasons a country does not develop efficiently.
When men and women are given preferential treatment, it has physical, emotional, spiritual, and
intellectual impacts. It also exposes specific genders to violence and discrimination. They are also
objectified and vulnerable to socioeconomic inequalities. These can all lead to extreme anxiety,
depression, and low self-esteem.
As a result, we must all acknowledge that gender inequality damages all genders. We must
respect both men and women equally to grow. We can address this issue through education by
educating young children to combat gender stereotypes as early as possible in their lives. People
must continue to maintain the same views till they depart. We must demonstrate to them that
life is not gender-biased. Furthermore, we must advocate for labor equality. Some people assume
that women cannot execute certain jobs compared to males. Nevertheless, in this generation,
women have proved that we can do anything males can do since we are not as fragile as they
expected. We must transcend ancient traditions and mentalities. Lastly, we must educate
everyone on the importance of equality and respect.
