The Secret of Farce

The secret of Farce is Pain

Stress
And a victim who will not give up.

He is identified by a bandage
A white stick
Crutches
Or a wheel-chair.

We are shown the hazards that await him:

The loose paving-stone
The puddle
The bucket of water
Or the oncoming train

A tenacious victim is the funniest

His pain accentuates the stress
As he topples from horror to horror
Furious and exasperated
Helpless with rage
