The purpose of this assignment is to facilitate your abilities to research a topic of study so you can learn to:
• apply your knowledge that you have learned in class.

• analyse information found in scholarly journal articles.

• synthesize new knowledge into a written response

You are required to complete a 1000-word essay explaining:

a. the extent to which you would describe Australia as an egalitarian or class society.
b. briefly explain the economists’ and the Marxists’ concepts of inequality in society
c. outline the measures adopted by Australia to achieve social equity.

It is expected that students will use at least three (3) current sources of literature (e.g., textbook,
scholarly articles, statistics) to support the points.
