1. GENERAL

The "DELTA" STPN sewage treatment plant is a fully biological type plant designed and built
to fully comply with the latest Marpol IMO MEPC 227(64) European Maritime Equipment
Council and USCG regulations.

Special attention was given during the design stage to produce a unit with the minimum
maintenance requirements and minimum volume and price.

The "DELTA" STPN Sewage treatment plant satisfactorily fulfils the following characteristics:

- It is an aerobic type system, therefore without any risk of methane production.

- It can perform satisfactorily with waste collected either by gravity or vacuum.

- It is a fully automatic system designed for low maintenance.

2. OPERATING THEORY

In the flow diagram enclosed, the cabling and the connections between the main
components, required for the operation of the system, can be easily identified.

The plant is made up by the following tanks:

I. Collecting and aeration tank.

II. Settling tank.

III. Disinfection tank.

Sewage water enters the unit through the raw sewage inlet at the top of the aeration tank.

Oxygen is continuously supplied to this tank, to stimulate the bacteriae growth and
therefore the biological action.

The necessary air is pumped by the blower and distributed through air lines to the diffusers,
which are at the bottom of the aeration tank.

In this way, the aerobic process continues its progress in this tank, while any suspended
solids (e.g. plastics) are trapped in the screens before entering the settling tank.

Settling of suspended solids and particles takes place in the settling tank. This tank is
designed with a special configuration to enhance its ability to settle solid particles.

Clean treated water from the settling tank is then sent to the disinfection tank, where the
chlorinator dosing system introduces sodium chlorine.

The clean effluent remains in the disinfection tank during at least 20 minutes, in order to
reduce the coliform bacteria content in the clear water, below 100 per 100 ml of coliform, as
per IMO requirements.

To help the mixture, the effluent pump is intermittently recirculating the water in the
disinfection tank. The effluent discharge pump also discharges the water between level
switches L1 and L2. The tank also has a high alarm switch L3.

Before discharge, the necessary quantity of sodium bisulphite is added, in order to remove
the possible free residual chlorine in the effluent.

All processes are completely automatic and are controlled by the control panel.

Each plant is certified for a specific hydraulic and organic load. DELTA sewage treatment
plants are designed to allow peak flows of one hour three times per day.

The effluent quality is better than the standard IMO values for the treated water.

5. SCOPE OF SUPPLY

ITEM 1 – SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

One (1) sewage treatment plant STPN-3200 suitable for the treatment of black waters and grey
waters collected by gravity from one hundred fifty (150) people, in accordance with IMO MPEC
227(64) Regulation.

The plant will be delivered complete mounted on a common skid and incorporating the
following components:

- Tanks
- One (1) Effluent discharge pump.
- One (1) Air Blower.
- Chlorine dosing system.
- Bisulphite dosing system.
- Control Panel.
