The Elite Organization has revived the Elite Week annual celebration designed to showcase the multi-talents and multi-skills of BTLE Students. The Elite Week has stopped in 2020 due to the widely-ravaging pandemic but now, the organization has been successfully revived and serve its purpose again as it resumes the long-week Elite celebration this 2023. The event starts on March 20-24, 2023 organized by the Elite Organization Officers headed by Jesryl Madelo Talundas with the guiding support of the BTLE faculties, Dr. Eric Sarcia, BTLE Program Head, Dr. Maria Gloria Lugo, Elite Organization adviser. The event is said to run through the entire week with its guiding theme “SHOWCASING SKILLS AND INNOVATION THROUGH CREATIVITY AND CAMARADERIE”. The day 1 is the opening ceremony which I attended. It was held at the spacious rear of the IETT Building. it was attended by the BTLE faculties. Further, the ceremony was also attended by the enthusiastic BTLE students from first year to third year coming from Home Economics and Industrial Technology Specializations. I have personally witness the excitement and enthusiasm of students through their chants, yells and dance. In the first day, every section has built their booth made out of local materials like bamboo, woods, and nipa grass. I find those booths profitable because the booth is going to be a market place of the entrepreneurship competition among all of the sections. They will sell hand-made and acquired products. The section with the biggest profits at the end of the week will be declared winner. The morning of the day 2 of the event might be boring for some students because it is about a Virtual Talk Series with a laser focused topic, Basic Consumer Rights, the speaker is from Department of Trade Industry (DTI) personnel, Edmond B. Handuca. I personally heard some sentiments from one attendee and she said she did not even listen to the discussions maybe because she is not into listening discussions in that time. So much for that, the afternoon of day 2 is about furniture making and cook feast competitions that is attended and participated by all sections. The morning of day 3 is the continuation of the Virtual Talk Series with a cerebral topic, Intellectual Property Rights with the most intellectual speaker, Dr. John Mark S. Francisco. The afternoon of day 3 is the continuation of the Battle of Skills Competition. The events to be competed are, Tie Dye Making, Beads Making, and Rags Making. I am happy to say that day 4 is the most helpful and interactive day in the event, the community engagement, feeding activity at Maitum Pre-School to be specific. It will be attended by the selected BTLE faculties and officers. The day 5 is perhaps the brightest day for the participants since it is the culmination day. The culmination is the last and final stage of the event. It is about the declaration of deserving winners and therefore, receiving of awards and certificates for the participants. Finally, the closing remarks of the program is delivered by Dr. Maria Gloria Lugo.
