Welcome
Welcome to your new workplace!
After years of preparation we will move into our new distribution and service centre and Bleiswijk will
be your new workplace from now on.

A new workplace brings a number of changes. To make you feel at home quickly and easily, we have
collected fun and practical information in this booklet.

Good luck and enjoy your new workplace!

Our new building is very sustainable!

The new distribution centre meets all criteria applying to the so-called BREEAM Outstanding Label.
This is the highest attainable sustainability class for buildings. To achieve this, we have created a
highly sustainable building using all kinds of state-of-the-art systems to keep pressure on the
environment to a minimum.

Did you know that…

 the building is entirely gas-free?
 the toilets are flushed with rainwater?
 we use heat and cold storage in the ground?
 the electric charging stations take their power from the solar cells on the roof?
 lighting in the building switches on/off automatically based on the presence and amount of
daylight?
 Lighting in the circulation routes is operated centrally on the basis of operating hours?

The sustainability label has informed the layout of the building and also influenced our work methods.

Access
Hoogvliet’s building is protected with a access control system. On the first day, everyone receives a
new access pass that you must carry with you at all times. This system is necessary for protection of
the spaces and for presence registration for your own safety in case of calamities.

Opening hours of the staff restaurant and canteens

The staff restaurant will be open Mondays to Saturdays from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M.
Catering is closed at night, but it is possible to have your meal in the staff restaurant. In addition to the
staff restaurant there are 2 canteens for packaging staff and in the Central Butchery.

Waste separation
Waste is separated in the staff restaurant, canteens and pantries: Organic waste, plastic waste and
residual waste.

Smoking policy
Hoogvliet is a non-smoking organisation, there is no smoking area available. Smoking is only allowed
during breaks, outdoors on the designated location at the bicycle parking.

Changing rooms and lockers

There are lockers and changing rooms in the distribution centre. Scanning your access pass will
assign you a locker. You must empty this locker at the end of the day, for you are given a different
locker each time. The figure below shows where the changing rooms are located.

2. Safety

Working safely comes first in our new distribution centre. This not only concerns measures to prevent
(physically) unsafe situations, but foremost: how do we work together safely and how do we
communicate with each other about this.

Hygiene is an important issue within the food processing industry, within our company and within our
(logistic) processes. In our distribution centre hygiene therefore plays a main role in our focus on
Safety.

Together, we are responsible for guarding and improving hygiene and safety. Report potential
hazardous situations and call each other to account for unsafe behaviour, whatever your position is.
Hoogvliet’s distribution centre has the ambition to be the Netherlands’ safest warehouse by 2021. Help
us achieve this goal!

Traffic regulations logistics

To prevent unsafe situations, traffic regulations have been drawn up for the distribution centre. At all
entrances to the distribution centres there are signs with the circulation routes and pictograms showing
the orders and prohibitions that all people present in the distribution centres must comply with.

Lactation room/First-aid rooms

There are 3 First-aid rooms in the building. In the canteen of the bakery is the lactation room, which
also serves as a first-aid room. The second first-aid room is on the ground floor in the distribution
centre, next to the workplace of Witron. The third room is next to the technical service department on
the first floor of the packaging department. An AED is available in the first-aid room.

Hygiene zone HCS and Bakery

In the butchery and bakery there are additional rules in the field of hygiene. As this concerns the
processing of raw materials into fresh meat products for consumers, rules are stricter than in an
environment in which only packaged products are processed. In the new environment we have a
separate entrance for drivers who can choose whether they hand over the delivery documents through
a hatch and do not enter the reception area, or have access to the reception area via a hygienic
sluice. In the sluice it is mandatory to put on protective clothing, and wash and disinfect one’s hands.
The driver will pass over a brush with soap.

The reception area is cleaned and disinfected daily using a high-pressure system.

All staff of the butchery and bakery only have access to the logistic and production rooms via a
hygienic sluice. To all staff and visitors applies that they only have access to the various rooms if al
hygiene rules have been met. This means clean work gear including shoes, hair or beard net on,
hands washed and disinfected.

Floor plan escape routes

The escape routes within the building have been clearly indicated in conformity with the legal
standards. They also indicate where the AED is located.

3. Transport and parking
Walking route/driving route/cycling route
On Facetlaan there is one way traffic for cars and cyclists. You drive to the roundabout from
Zoetermeerselaan and take the direction of Facetlaan from there. On Facetlaan you drive counter-
clockwise to the parking space earmarked for you. Pedestrians use the sidewalk around Facetlaan.

Type of parking spaces

There are various types of parking spaces available on the site, namely:
 14 electric parking spaces
 3 parking spaces for disabled people
 12 parking spaces for visitors
 212 regular parking spaces

Below you can see where you as an employee must park.
 Bicycle parking

To prevent damage and drive out more easily, it is important that everyone parks backwards.

Bicycle and scooter parking

There is covered bicycle parking on the site. It is to the south of the DC. This parking accommodates
(electric) bicycles and mopeds and there is room for hanging rain gear. There are also power outlets
available for recharging electric bikes. Next to the bicycle parking there are spaces for parking
motorbikes.
The bicycle parking is locked off and provided with camera surveillance. You can access the bicycle
parking using your access pass. From the bicycle parking you take the footbridge into the DC. (The
Transport office is immediately to the left from the footbridge. From here, you have the option to go to
the changing room and/or staff restaurant.

Entrance transport
From the parking area you can enter the DC on the side of the building. After entering you can safely
store our personal gear in a lockable locker the changing room if you want. In the same changing
room is the key cabinet where the keys to the trucks hang. With your access pass you can open the
key cabinet and take the key to your truck.

The trucks are parked in the parking area and in front of the docks. To reach the trucks from the
changing rooms you have two options:
 Walk straight to the trucks. On the way to the trucks is a coffee machine so you can take a cup
of coffee to your car (coins are available at the planning department).
 Continue to the staff restaurant where you can sit down and have a cup of coffee.
If you come by bicycle or scooter, you enter the DC from the bicycle parking using the footbridge (from
the footbridge, the Transport office is immediately to the left). From here you have the option to go to
the changing room and/or the staff restaurant.

Drivers – between rides

If you want to use the toilet, canteen or coffee between rides, there is opportunity for this on the first
floor at the packaging DC. When you make use of this, you switch off the container and leave your
truck behind. While the container is being emptied, you can have a coffee and use the toilet. You can
enter using the stairwell.

Parking Hoogvliet truck – private ground
