Purpose

This document was written for all NCOs of 278 Cormorant Squadron. Its intent is to provide
NCOs with an in-depth breakdown of Parade Nights, to help prepare them in accomplishing the
tasks set forth for their roles and to assure Parade Nights operate smoothly

ANNEX B

DETAILS ON FLIGHT COMMANDER FALL IN

Drill instructions for Flight Commanders taking command of their flights (Opening Parade
Structure, Item 11)
- Once the command, “OFFICERS FALL - IN” is given by the DCOMD flight
commanders begin to quick march in the path described below:

- Once the flight commander has reached their respective flights, they will halt in front of
their flight sergeant, continuing to face the direction they were marching
- Once the flight commander of 5 flight halts, all flight commanders will turn left to face
their flight sergeants
- Next, the flight sergeants will turn right and march to the back of the flight and halt
behind the center of the last rank
- Lastly, all flight commanders will turn to face the front.
- The timings for this sequence are as follows:
- **Number 5 flight commander halts**
- Standard pause (2-3)
- Flight commanders left turn (1, 2-3)
- Flight sergeants right turn (1, 2-3)
- Flight sergeants march (21 paces (1, 2, 3…21)
- Standard pause (2-3)
- Flight commanders about turn (1, 2-3)

FLIGHT ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES

General Information

- Attendance is to be taken by the Flight Sergeant (or if necessary, a delegate) from 1815 to
1840 Hrs
- Attendance is to be taken on a PHYSICAL attendance sheet unless explicitly directed
otherwise
- At 1840, the final number of present cadets are tallied and all parts of the physical
attendance form are filled
- At 1845 the attendance is handed to the Duty NCO table.
- All cadet’s that arrive past 1835hrs will form into a separate flight where duty cadets will
mark them as late when appropriate.
- Duty NCOs will ensure all cadets arriving past 1835 are formed into a separate
flight

Calling The Roll

1. On the command ATTEN – TION, ANSWER TO YOUR NAME, STAND AT – EASE,


each squad member shall come to attention as his name is called and answer in one of the
following ways:
a. “Sir” or “Ma’am” if the person calling the roll is an officer, warrant officer 1st
class, warrant officer 2nd class;
b. “Flight Sergeant”, “Sergeant”, “Flight Corporal” or “Corporal” or equivalent
when the roll is called by a member holding these ranks; or
c. “Present” if the person calling the roll is below the rank of Corporal.
2. When the roll-call is supervised by a person senior in rank to the person calling the roll,
each squad member shall answer to his name with the correct response for the rank of the
supervisor.
3. When a senior is in the ranks and the roll is called by a junior with no senior rank
supervising the roll-call, both shall use the other’s rank title in calling and answering the
name.
4. Each squad member shall stand at ease after answering his name

NCO INSPECTION PROCEDURES

- Any NCO not able to arrive for inspection is to inform the SWO via email (unless
instructed to inform using a different platform).
- Inspections to be conducted by the squadron commander (or a delegate when needed)
- Senior NCOs are to fall onto parade into a single flight
- NCO conducting inspection is to open order and right dress the flight
- NCOs are then inspected and the results are recorded into the Uniform Inspection
Spreadsheet
- Spreadsheet is available here
- Upon completion of inspection, any needed announcements regarding the training night
can be made and if needed, duties delegated
- Lastly, NCOs are dismissed and they return to their flights to do their respective duties.
