HealthyHappyHomes and Bike For Shelter Events
HealthyHappyHomes and Bike For Shelter Events
It costs upwards of $2.5 million a year to run our shelter of 24 kids, but
only $300,000 to service 25-30 families. Healthy Foundations provides the
skills needed for healthy families, which in turn, are kids that don’t end up
in our shelter.
Our first event is on First Friday- April 7 at 5 p.m. Some of our families from
our Healthy Foundations program had an afternoon of sitting for family
portraits. Those portraits were made into silhouettes and will be on
display in the Dana Gallery all month long to bring awareness and
acknowledge the hard work our families are putting in to beat the
statistics of child abuse.
The other event you might be interested in covering is our 23rd annual
“Bike for Shelter” event. This year we are changing things up and making
it a more “family carnival” style event. All activities will be free, and open to
the public. The festivities run from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 in
front of Community Medical Center.
