What are the eight (8) steps involved in staffing procedure? Explain each very
briefly.

There are certain elements that you need for your business to succeed, and
human resources is at the top of the list in all types of businesses. This requirement of a
business is met by a simple yet intricate function known as Staffing. It entails the process
of filling various positions in the organizational structure with the correct people who are
skilled and competent to carry out the responsibilities that the position entails. In a staffing
procedure, it takes eight (8) steps involve namely, Human resource planning,
Recruitment, Selection, Induction and orientation, Training and development,
Performance Appraisal, Employment Decisions, and Separation.

First step is Human resource planning, which Forecast the future, program the
forecasted human resource to personnel goals, and evaluate and control the plans for
success. Second, once the positions are determined and the qualifications outlined there
arises the need to identify people meeting the conditions through a process known as
recruiting. Third, Selection comes prior to recruiting, where it is a distinct process
involves sifting through the recruits to understand who can do the job better. Fourth, after
an applicant is finally selected the next steps undertaken are induction and orientation,
in which the new employee is provided with the necessary information about the
company. Fifth, to enhance and improve the newly hired employee necessary skills
required by the job, training and development becomes a necessity, Sixth, employment
and training of employees is not the end of staffing function it also involves the function
of performance appraising of each employee. Seventh, after evaluating the
performance of employees the management will now be ready to make employment
decisions, involving Monetary rewards, Promotion, Transfer, and Demotion. Lastly,
Separation is either a voluntary or involuntary termination of an employee, usually made
after training efforts fail to produce positive results.
