2. What types of products/services do you think about most when you think
about "sustainability"?

Energy consuming products and services. This could vary from, tangible
technology products such as monitors, air fryers, smart vacuum, air purifiers
and other electric consuming products.

3. What is the certification, ranking, or rating that influences your purchase of

this product or service? Who provides that certification, ranking, or rating?

Based on my experience purchasing this monitor during my time in the United

Kingdom, these certifications, ranking, and ratings are amongst the factors I
have taken into consideration when purchasing such product, this is because
energy consumption in households are relatively costly when it comes to
energy bill charges. Moreover, when it comes to the rankings and ratings in
terms of energy consumption, instead of the energy star certifications, which
is commonly used in the US. In the UK another energy rating system is
utilized, which is called EPC rating by energy saving trusts, where energy
consumption levels are monitored and rated. These certifications and
rankings are rated alphabetically from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
Thus, the monitor that I have purchased has a rating has a “C” rating with
12kwh/1000h, which means it is relatively efficient when compared to other
monitors the manufacturer has to offer.
4. Are there certain certifications you pay more attention to? Why?

Not that I know of when it comes to becoming more sustainable. However,

certifications such as award winning products, ratings and consumer ratings
would truly be appealing, knowing that the product is made under good
reputation and a trusted manufacturer.

5. How much does a certification, ranking, or rating matter to you in making

your purchase decision?

Depends on the intended use of the product. In the case of my buying

decision towards this product Is just to find a quality-built monitor for the
intended use of working and nothing more. Therefore, certifications no other
than its energy consumption level is more than enough of my attention.
However, if other consumers for example, their intended buying decision is for
the purpose of gaming, they would find a gaming monitor prioritizing on other
certifications, for example NVidias G-sync compatibility or AMD free sync
compatible. These are certifications made to improve consumers gaming
experience to a much greater height, therefore the need of prioritizing such
certification is much more mandatory then energy ratings as it would defeat
the entire purpose of what a gaming monitor is made for.
