India

Paper topic- Human centric skill development a synergy for economic growth - Indian
perspective

Abstract
India has always contributed to the global economy with its skilled workforce and incredibly
young population. This is one of her competitive advantages over other countries. India, the
world's largest democracy with a population of over 1.2 billion, aims to become a 5 trillion
economy by becoming the second largest skill provider after China. India has come a long
way from a pure agricultural economy that made us a global food exporter to the
manufacturing based economy it is today.

Over the past decade, India has significantly improved its skilled workforce to boost
economic growth, with many research reports projecting India's growth rate at 7% by 2030.
The Government of India's Skill India and Make in India initiatives are a testament to the
futuristic vision we have and how we plan to become the centre of the world's workforce.

The recent Covid-19 pandemic has changed the dynamics of the global economy and India
has seized this opportunity by providing a skilled workforce and using resources efficiently.
The focus is on creating better quality jobs through investments in human capital that
promote inclusion of the female workforce while meeting the needs of a rising middle class
economy. The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of human-centric skill
development and its impact on the growth of the Indian economy in relation to the global
economy.
