Introduction
We had to work on a project as part of our extracurricular assignment. In this
project, we were asked to complete a survey about foreigners' opinions on a
certain topic. This has been an opportunity for us to acquire valuable skills that
can help us significantly when it comes to college and job applications. After
agreeing on the opinions of the members, we came to the decision to collect
opinions of foreigners on the topic of fashion. The topic focuses on how people
dress in everyday life and their particular style of clothes. Foreigners were
asked to answer the questionnaire related to this topic. Finally, based on their
opinion and impression, we draw conclusions and recommendations about the
topic and the project to improve the quality in the future.
II. The project
1. Overview
In today’s world fashion is accepted by people of all class and culture. It is
becoming an indispensable part of our lives. Time changes and so does
everything around us. The same thing is with the fashion styles. In some
periods, fashion sometimes hasn’t been cool; every pair of clothing can be
fashion even the most boring ones. It's also another medium to express yourself,
and sort of define your image. The definition of fashion varies from one person
to another. We express our personality and our sense of aesthetics when we
embrace fashion and dress according to classic fashion or fashionable trends. It
defines who we are in public places and tells the world about our taste while
wearing stylish outfits. Therefore, fashion is an interesting topic and easy to
answer for all ages in all countries.
2. Description of the project
We discussed coming up with suitable questions for the questionnaire. We then
conducted interviews with ten foreigners and collected information from them
over the course of five weeks. After about three weeks, this request changed to
seven people. All interviews are online interviews conducted remotely through
an online chat, video, or audio platform.
We approach forums, apps, websites, and social networking sites that connect
with foreigners. We focus on foreigners who can speak English. After getting to
know each other and talking comfortably, we would ask for their permission to
have an interview, then send them our group’s questionnaire and ask for their
permission to record the interview. The interview was administered in the free
time of both the interviewer and the interviewee. It usually takes about ten
minutes to twenty minutes for an interview.
There is some advantage and limitations of the interview process:
 Advantages: First of all, we can benefit from technology. Technology has
allowed us to connect with people with ease, and has made the task so
much easier. Almost everyone in the world have had a contact with smart
devices. We can detect foreigners living anywhere in the world, chat with
them whenever we have free time. No doubt that the internet can help us
save a lot of time and work. We can conveniently adapt the scheduled
time to be most applicable to our condition. Online interviews also help
us to overcome low self-esteem, gain confidence. We were more
comfortable communicating through the screen.
 Disadvantages: We met many kinds of people during the interview
process. Besides the good people who were willing to help, there were
many people with bad intentions, which took us a lot of time. Secondly,
another challenge that we faced was the language barrier. The non-native
speakers’ pronunciation made it difficult to interview and collect
information. The third problem was the time difference between places
and time zones all over the world. In some cases, we had to stay up late to
wait for the interviewer. Other reasons that affect our work efficiency:
weather, bad connection, power outages, …

Most of the interviewees wore comfortable, natural, casual clothes at home such
as pajamas, t-shirts, etc. To respond to formal meetings, they must dress
appropriately and be more polite. That's the reason they wear suits, uniforms or
trousers at work and at school. Because of being appropriate to the nature of the
job, most of the interviewees believe that the clothes are difficult to express
their personality.
