INTRODUCTION
Poor garbage management is the improper disposal of trash in a neighborhood, including plastic
bottles, food containers, stray leaves, and other yard waste. When this trash is disposed of
improperly, it contributes significantly to pollution. This inappropriate disposal attitude, reflects
what the non-use of garbage collection systems creates. Additionally, when disposing of
garbage that contains harmful chemicals such as bleach, acid or oil, it is important that it is
disposed of in approved containers and labeled correctly. Paper, plastics and other materials
can contaminate the air when they are burned resulting in air pollution. Air pollution consists
of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. If the
garbage contains toxic chemicals like dioxin, over time they can reach the air that people
breathe and cause a public health risk. Garbage that is disposed of improperly can also begin
to release methane gases. Consequently, the personal health and way of life of everyone in the
community, will be impacted if the situation worsens.
3
BACKGROUND/OVERVIEW OF ISSUE
In the community of Alleppo, residents practice poor garbage management which may be from
the lack of collection systems. Due to this circumstance, people dispose of their garbage
anywhere that seems to be suitable to them, such as gullies, road sides, rivers, skip etc. This
causes air pollution which affects the health of residents in the community. As a result, this
causes certain area in the community to have an unpleasant odor. It increases the risk of
respiratory infections, and other diseases. Severe impacts affect people who are already ill such
as children, the elderly and poor people who are more susceptible.
4
PROBLEM STATEMENT
A community that is vastly littered is vulnerable to various types pollution due to poor garbage
management. However, this type of pollution mainly affects air we breathe in.
How does poor garbage management lead to air pollution in the community of Alleppo?
5
Research Objectives
To find out how non-collection systems entices poor garbage management.
To determine how poor garbage management result in air pollution in the community.
6
Methodology
A questionnaire was used to collect and distribute data to conduct this investigation. A
questionnaire is a research instrument that consists of a set of questions or other types of prompts
that aim to collect information from a respondent. (As postulated by questionpro.com). The
researcher chose a questionnaire because it reaches people quickly and is flexible for respondents
over when and where to complete their questionnaire. This was used to inquire the participants of
this investigation the ways in which poor garbage management result in air pollution. This
questionnaire was printed and distributed to 25 random respondents in the community. These
respondents have found different alternatives to gather and dispose unwanted garbage a point
time, due to non-existing collections systems. Some of them are impacted by the issue, and some
are aware of the negative effects air pollution has on the community's citizens. They were asked
to choose one answer for each of the fifteen questions. They were given a week to respond to the
questions, and then asked to send them back at the beginning of another week.

PRESENTATION OF DATA
A pie chart, a column, a bar graph and a line graph were used to analyze the questionnaire
results. The total for each set of answers were counted and entered into these charts.

ANALYSES AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA
Due to the responses from the questionnaire, in the community of Alleppo it can be said that
non-garbage collection systems are the cause of poor garbage management (inappropriate
disposal of garbage). 60% of people strongly agree with this observation while 40% neither
agree nor disagree. Nearly all the residents of the community have proclaimed that the
inappropriate disposal of garbage has caused air pollution.
The community's residents have a variety of garbage disposal options. Nonetheless, 40% them
dispose of their trash along roadsides, where to which is more open. Majority of people

CONCULSION
Poor garbage management mainly occurs because there are no proper garbage disposal areas in
the community. From this it was deduce that poor garbage management result in air pollution
which is caused by non-existing garbage collection systems in the community of Alleppo.
16
RECOMMENDATIONS
i) All residents of the community should take recycling seriously to reduce the
occurrence of air pollution.
ii) Residents should protest towards the government for commence the sending of
garbage collection systems
iii) Residents should know and find all proper means of disposing their garbage to
commute the contamination in community.

REFLECTION
A community without collection systems can cause the environment to be polluted because there
are no suitable areas for dumping garbage. Proper garbage management reduces the chances of
environmental pollution.
I realize how crucial it is for a community to have collection systems in place so that different
kinds of pollution, like air pollution, won't have a negative impact on the people's health.
This project could be improved by actually looking into the negative effects of air pollution on
the residents’ health.
Due to the area being in in the vicinity of litter and filth, it has a negative social influence
because it tempts residents to migrate. In addition, nobody would want to visit their relatives in
such a filthy community.
