Abstract

The following paper critically analyzes the Chapter “ Bangladeshi

Mediascape: Political and Corporate Power” from the book “ The
Emergence of Bangladesh.” The Chapter is written by Asif Bin Ali and
Olav Muurlink. The paper will explain the chapter review from the point
of view of a general student. It will aim to give a comprehension of the
strength and weaknesses of the Chapter.

Critical Analysis of Chapter Bangladeshi Mediascape

Relevancy
The Chapter includes documentation that is relevant to current
Bangladesh. It included the popular culture in the country of groups of
people enjoying Television in a social setting such as tea stalls. The
Chapter also mentions the influence of Indian media and the
disadvantages of media that Bangladesh has due to its geographical
location. It is unbiased, as with India’s influence in Bangladeshi media;
there were examples of corporate power and the nexus of ruling political
parties and media. However, the Chapter fails to capture the essence of
how India Factor manipulates media, especially since the current ruling
party is in a close relationship with the BJP party in India. One cannot
simply ignore that the close ties are merely coincidental.

Jargons
Since this paper aims to examine the Chapter through the lens of a
general student. Technical jargons such as “epistemology,” “ hard
power,” or “politico-commercial nexus” require prior knowledge by the
reader to get a good readership. Although such jargon is required due to
the inherent nature of the subject matter, it still acts as a barrier to
comprehension. Perhaps small side notes could be written as meaning
for such terms. This will ensure there isn’t any pragmatic mistakes as
well.

Diverse examples of research

The read was intriguing as it included a lot historical evidence in an
organized manner. The part where Bangladesh Betar's history is
mentioned is thoroughly impressive as it gives the reader an
understanding of where the well-known radio station originated. Apart
from historical examples, the whole Chapter included definitions and
evidence from many papers, making it difficult to read with all the major
parenthesis but is commendable nonetheless.

Concluding Thoughts.
The Chapter is written with many examples from different kinds of
papers. Some terms made it quite challenging to understand it from the
point of view of a general student. However, the paper was an insight
with its rich history and relevancy.

Abstract

The following paper critically analyzes the video "Concert for

The paper will explain the video review from the point of view of a

weaknesses of the video.

Critical Analysis of Concert for Bangladesh

Transitions and Cinematography
Keeping in mind that this review is in the point of view of a layman with
no proper knowledge regarding cinematography, the transitions through
each chapter were smooth. Various media, such as animation, pictures,
and clips, were put together in a simple pack making it easier to follow
and relate to the topic being discussed. There are subtle sound effects,
such as that of typing, which enable the viewer to focus effectively.
While some may argue that the color scheme of yellow-brown
throughout the video gives it a very dull and mundane visual, it suits the
subject matter's theme.

Caption is Gen Z
Captions are a great addition to any video. Especially on YouTube,
where one can add captions to their video outside of editing them into
the source video and ruining them. Although the narration was
crystalline, adding captions would make it easier to follow the narration.
The narrator could also try not to sound monotonous, although, given the
subject matter, it is not surprising to use a more robotic and neutral tone.

Interviews, source material and the music

It was fascinating to hear the interview accounts from different experts
in the video, such as the Barrister who drafted the proclamation of the
6

independence of Bangladesh. Not every day one hears such accounts,

and the video enabled the viewers to enjoy such excerpts.

Concluding thoughts
The video had outstanding animations and cinematography. The
interviews, clips, and source materials are relevant. It would have been
enjoyable to watch the whole video with captions.
