Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman Athar had been contributed in uncovering the toxic effects of long-term hypoxic
conditions and supplemental nitrate nitrogen at whole plant level. Moreover, he contributed in unraveling
mechanism of salt tolerance in crop plants as well as inducing salt tolerance in important crops using
shotgun approaches. The work so produced/published at international forum is being frequently cited by
different eminent scientists of the world.
