Transfer Goals:

The student on their own and in the long run will be able to demonstrate appropriate skills in
writing with the use of parallelism as an expression of their desire in learning and as witness of
the language of God.

Enduring Understanding:

1. Writing is a complex process. Hence, knowing its basic principle is necessary to become
proficient writer.

2. In writing, we need to observe the consistency of the verb used. This will help us to
effectively convey our messages, thoughts, and ideas accurately.

3. Our style, and choices of words in writing sometimes reflect on our experiences,
aspirations and observations.

Essential Question:

1. What does writing reveal?

2. How is writing related to the author’s personality?

3. What is the implication of verb consistency in writing?

I: PRELIMINARIES (Introduction)

a. Pre-assessment/Review:

 Parallel- a person or a thing that is similar to another.


 Structure- the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of
something complex.

d. Motivation:
Directions: These pictures have something in common, except one. Put an X mark on
the picture which does not belong to the group.

1. Can you tell me what have you noticed from each of the pictures?
2. Do they show similarities in idea, characteristics, etc.?

II. Lesson Proper (Interaction)

a. Presentation of concepts
Students will know:

1. The principles of parallelism

Students will be able to:

1. Analyze faulty parallelism in a sentence.


2. Write sentences observing parallel structure.
3. Value parallelism through writing clear and comprehensible sentences.

Activity

The class will be grouped in to three (3). Each group will be given an equal number of
sentences containing faulty parallelism. Within ten (10) minutes, each group should
rewrite each faulty sentences correctly. Presentation of output will follow after the
finalization of each group. The group with the most number of correct sentences will be
given the highest grade.

2. Why is it important to know these principles in making a sentence?
