Functions - Acquisition
Acquisition of binary inputs using dedicated digital inputs boards
(several available voltage range) optically isolated :
• Physical devices positions
• Transformer tap position (BCD, Gray …)
• Process alarms … etc
• Wired information from protection relays (K, P740, other manufacturers …)
Acquisition of measurements using dedicated boards :
• Transducer measurements :
– Current : [-20 ; 20] mA (customizable)
– Voltage : [-10 ; 10] V (customizable)
• Transducer less measurements :
– Current : 1A or 5A (Accuracy 2% / 15 Harmonics)
– Voltage : 60 to 500 Vrms (Accuracy 2% / 15 Harmonics)

Functions - Control
Control of physical devices using dedicated boards
[Voltage from 24 to 250Vdc (230Vac)]
• Dry sec (NO)
• Invertor contact (NO/NC)

Control directly all substation physical devices

Functions - Communication
Exchange data's through communication ports
• 4 independent serial port configurable RS232/RS485 or FO using a
converter
• 4 protocols « Master» available for IEDs (MiCOM relays / other
manufacturers …)
– IEC 60870-5-103 (VDEW) => Px2x / Px3x / Px4x (KITZ)
– Modbus => Px2x
– DNP3
– IEC 60870-5-101
• 2 protocols « Slave » available for SCADA (2 Max.)
– IEC 60870-5-101
– DNP3
• 1 Ethernet port RJ45 or FO to access IEC61850 main communication
network of PACiS 4.6 version
Access IEDs measurements/information's, upload disturbance

Functions - Storage
• FLASH memory used (permanent)
− Start up parameters (Network identifiers)
− Configuration files (2 different DB) + OS VxWorks
− Internal error files (10 last => files .txt)
− Disturbance files (COMTRADE for Pxxx)
− SRAM memory supplied by capacity (stored events during 2 days in
case of power suplly lost)
− Archiving (200 alarms / 2048 events)
− Counters

All data stored in case of power supply lost

pixels
− Display bay synoptics
− Local control to send order to motorised switchgears
− Display real time measurements (C264 + IEDs)
− Display real-time states (C264 + IEDs)
− Display up to 200 last alarms (C264 + IEDs)
− Display the last 200 last events (C264 + IEDs)
− Display C264 board status (Auto control)
− Display all logical inputs polarisations status
− Display C264-IED connection status
− Access to C264 setting up
− Display process or devices information on LEDs

Allows a performing local supervision and maintenance

Function – Other

• Synchronisation by GPS with 1ms accuracy

− Connexion of external GPS clock (Hopf) using IRIG-B plug
− Synchronization signal spread on Ethernet network using
• Ethernet port
• Serial port

Have a common date & time for the complete DCS

• Bay computer redundancy

− Physical Interconnection (not through Ethernet network)
− Same hardware and serial connection
− Automatic switch of the bay computer as soon as a problem is detected :
• Ethernet network loss
• Hardware fault

Keep bay computer functions in case of BCU failure

MAIN C264 Redundancy management - BIU 241
Secondary criteria : Hardware failure
• If the SBUS communication is working on both C264, hardware fault criteria
is taken into account (Internal Status)

• Internal status = sum of hardware fault.

– Depending on the board type: DIU <AIU < AOU < DOU

• Active C264 is the one with the lowest IS (immediate switch)

– Ex. : 2 AIU Faulty on MAIN2 and 1 DOU Faulty on MAIN1 => MAIN1 become
standby, MAIN2 become active (MAIN2 DO1 = 1)
