Assignment

1. How can your communication skills help you become successful in life?
-My communication skills can help a lot in my future career. It can lead me to my success if I will
be going to improve it. I know that when you are good at sales talking, example in business industry
there is really a big chance of prosperity of the product you sell etc. Communication skills helps a lot not
just to become successful but also to improve myself in any aspects of my life.

2. Can you be assertive and respectful at the same time?


-I can say yes, because sometimes in a specific situation, I tell others what I believe in, and I stand
for it. I am also open to what their opinion is, and I respect their beliefs and understand it as much as I
want them to understand mine. There are also times where I can be assertive and my respect for a
certain belief or saying could not be found, but it depends on the situation.

3. Explain the meaning of “effective communication”.


-Effective communication is the sharing of ideas and opinions. It’s also an exchanging of
information so the message will be understood by both persons—the one who is talking and the one
who is listening. Effective communication is important to know the purpose of the information and for it
to be understood well by the receiver.

4. What is the role of listening in achieving effective communication skills?


-Listening is the skill of accurately receiving and interpreting messages during communication.
Listening is important to have effective communication. It is the receiving and interpreting the message
conveyed and digesting it and not just letting it pass to the other ear.

5. Do you agree with the idea that to be an effective communicator, you have to be in control of your
emotions? Why or why not?
-Yes, I agree. To become an effective communicator, you must be aware of your emotions, and
you must control them. In doing so, it can prevent miscommunications so that the people you are talking
to will not get confused by your emotions and acts.

6. Differentiate listening and hearing.


-Listening consists of receiving and understanding the sound waves by paying full attention to the
words and sentences of the speaker. While hearing is more than a sense that helps you receive sound
waves and sounds with your ears. Listening is more complex than hearing because you can listen and
interpret the words at the same time while in hearing you can hear sounds and think about something at
the same time which means your attention is being distracted.
