The word accountable originates from Latin word computare meaning “to count”. The word has
not existed until its use in 13th century. In the present times however, accountability is overused since the
modern societies in the world has been accustomed in law and justice. Aside from the fact that our society
now is a litigious one, the Covid-19 pandemic has placed the world in a whole bigger level due to public

To begin with, in the domain of public responsibilities as discussed, the main focal points were as
follows; keeping the legislative and executive law even on special circumstance as pandemic, good
governance as a highly needed recipe and laws of emergency at a pandemic. In the first part, it was
discussed that even there is pandemic, the law and order must prevail through fully operational of
legislative and executive law. It is just as sensible as it is since pandemic may result to more public chaos
and for the reason that the law and order must not halt even the pandemic had stop many things.
Moreover, the second focal point was about how good governance is the only way to defeat the plague.
The ethical and moral structure of the society is getting weaker hence, the resolution for the plague will
not be combated by science alone but also on high moral grounds. Furthermore, exceptional events such
as Covid-19 pandemic prompts emergency and extraordinary law and order in such to contain all uprising
in this period of trying times. The above presented public control of law and justice is just as necessary as
ever specially in the midst of the pandemic. It is a personal view that to enforce stringent social behavior
during pandemic such as wearing mask and social distancing requires all of the mentioned above.

On the contrary, private responsibilities are also necessary since the pandemic is not just a public
crisis that must be only addressed by the public authorities but also by the citizens itself. To do that, the
authors mentioned fact checking and debunking of false claims. There are false claims that are deadly and
if these laid out facts in the public won’t be placed in scrutiny and correction, there will be more
catastrophic consequences. Moreover, it was also cited that as media is a very important component in
spreading credible information, it has also remained vulnerable and unsupported during the Covid-19. It
is a personal view that while the media had challenges in maintaining its service, it is still one of the most
potent medium to access the relevant information regarding the pandemic and such private individual
need to fact check and ensure the information that they will read will be set for scrutiny.

To conclude, the article pieces are very relatable and very neutral. There were more on
realizations and agreement on the contents that it has delivered. It is a personal view that reading this
article has pondered thoughts that it is not just the public or government that has a great accountability
for the pandemic nevertheless, all individual is accountable for the control of the spread of Covid-19.
