Semester 2 Course description: Course title: Academic English for Juniors (B1) Course objectives: The syllabus is presented on a 90-minute lesson-by-lesson basis. - This course is specially designed for younger teenagers to improve English proficiency in an academic setting as well as develop necessary soft skills. - In terms of English proficiency, the course enables students to have a solid foundation of grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary and to develop strong linguistic skills at low intermediate level (from familiar topics such as family, sports, study and work to academic topics like technology, nature, arts). The course equips students with comprehensive and practical learning skills and strategies that they can transfer to other areas of their education. - In addition, the course provides students with life skills which ensure students not only develop academically, but also grow into self-aware, considerate and confident individuals with the ability to think for themselves. Several soft skills are introduced and developed for students throughout the course like group work, presentation, time management, critical and creative thinking via project-based learning. - The course prepares students for entrance exams to specialised schools, classes and excellent student contests at different levels.
