Importance of NSTP

Learning Objectives:
After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to:
1. To promote and protect the physical, mental, spiritual, intellectual, and social
wellbeing of the youth
2. To inculcate patriotism and nationalism in the youth
3. To encourage their involvement in public and civic affairs
4. To identify their role as change agents in the community
5. To prepare and implement projects that will answer specific needs of the society

Lesson 1. The Importance of NSTP
So, you have gone through the introductory portion of NSTP which validates the
necessity of this course to all students in the collegiate degree. The relevance of this
course is not only a pre-requisite program before a tertiary student can graduate;
rather, this will give him/her the must-know-how in preparation and in facing the
possibilities of intricacies in life brought by some man-made and natural phenomena.
All you have to do, is to have the utmost motivation being a proactive learner of this
course so that you can have the enjoyment a learner should possess. To begin with,
you must have the candid learning on the tangible importance of NSTP course, and
here they are.

a. Students- the program prepares them

to become effective and efficient citizens of our
country who are truly trained in the field of
community services as they will venture in their
own, as future leaders, community workers, family
persons’ and even bearers of goodwill to the whole
mankind.

b. Faculty members- the program will help them

to design and redesign NSTP activities that are
in tune to the needs of the students,
themselves, the institutions they are serving,
and the government.

 c. The school- this can be the source
of manpower resources whose components have
the hearts for community service in general,
and find more ways to develop their social
relationship through curriculum building and
its implementation in the field of education and
can further identify some innovations that are
truly founded on the existence of NSTP program
of the school, in particular.

d. Larger communities- the program

will serve as a role model in making
their community to be socially aware of
the importance of community
volunteerism, beautification, sanitation
and economic foundation. Thus, they,
themselves can be a living testimony
to the importance of community
building through NSTP program.

e. The government- as public servants, the program

can be a source of their enhancement programs in
helping or serving the people
