The Logical Operator Game

3-4 Players Materials: Deck of 24 symbolic statement cards, Truth Mat and True/False cards. Object: Get rid of all your cards by playing true statements. Set Up: The truth mat is put out, and initial values are determined randomly for S, P, Q and R. (Coin: heads = true, tails = false; Die: 1-3= true, 4-6 = false.) Shuffle statement cards and deal 5 to each player. The first player is to the left of the dealer. Game play: On a players turn, they have to change the truth value of one of the statements. They can then play one of the cards which is true for the truth values showing. For example, if S=True, P=False, the player could play S, SP, and SP, but not play SP, SP or S. The player explains why their card is true. If they have no card which is true, then they may discard one card and draw another from the deck. If the deck runs out, shuffle the discarded cards and make that the new deck. Scoring: (optional) When a player goes out, other players score one point for each simple statement in their hand. After each player has dealt once, the player with the lowest score wins. Example: A player is left with PQ, R, and (SP)Q. He would score 2+1+3 for 6. Variation: Bluffing. Players play cards without stating reasons. If you disagree with a play, you challenge it. If the player can support it, you pick up the card. If they can not, they have to pick up that card plus a penalty card from the deck.
