Social protection programs in the Philippines aim to help families improve their lives and gain sustainable livelihoods by providing cash assistance and investing in education, health, and nutrition. While current social protection does provide necessary support, the scope and reach of programs could be broadened, especially in rural areas where some still lack access to assistance. In the author's community, a program called TUPAD provides temporary work opportunities for at least 10 days to displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers to earn income and find permanent jobs.

Understanding the Social Protection Programs of the Philippines Government 1.) Why is social protection important to an individual? For the reason that in our country poverty is one of the most common problem which needs to be lessen, by the help of Social Protection(SP) poor family will be able to have a chance to improve their life and gain sustainable kind of life. 2.) Do you like the country’s social protection system why? Why and why not? Yes! Because it’s not only about giving a cash assistance to a poor family or person, but also helping them to improve their life by investing human capital like the education, health and nutrition. 3.) Do you think there are still missing in the social protection of the Philippine government? For me as for now SP has the most needed of a poor family, but when we talk about the future the SP should broaden their programs and the scope of their programs especially to the rural places because there are still people that don’t know how to access their right in there community without the help of a professional. 4.) In your own community how is social protection system work? As for my observation, our community officials also practice the activities given by our municipal to help an individual, one of this is what we call TUPAD where in their target in this program is a worker that was displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers. Person will work for a minimum of 10 days in our community. So that they will have a salary that can help them to find a permanent job.
