How can Informatics be Applied to the following Areas of Nursing:
A. Nursing Education
1. Using e-learning or distance learning. This is used in course management systems, virtual
classrooms, and online tutorials.
2. Educating providers and students on how to make the best use of electronic health records and
clinical decision support systems.
3. Using the Internet to teach courses via the Web and communicate with their students via e-mail.
4. Using podcasts, database using, social software, social media, (SL), Web quest, Cloud
computing, e-health, information technology (IT) applications/ health. informatics/ clinical
information systems, road-map guided Excel VBA for formal and distance education usage.
5. Teaching and practicing students in using electronic health records.

B. Nursing Practice
1. Developing data structures and software tools for nurses to use.
2. Keeping electronic health records aligned with best practices for data management, processing,
and organization.
3. Implementing analytics to monitor and facilitate nursing processes.
4. Enabling healthcare and IT professionals to communicate with each other more effectively.
5. Developing and enforcing privacy policies following ethics and regulations.

C. Nursing Administration
1. Monitoring and evaluation of clinical and budgetary outcomes.
2. Having a systematic and strategic planning.
3. Keeping records available whenever needed.
4. Using of technology for better and rapid communication of nursing. administrators with staff,
nursing managers, and support departments.
5. Establishing effective administration systems .

D. Nursing Research
1. Storing, managing, or reporting on data used for research purposes.
2. Managing information related to clinical trials and also involves informatics related to secondary
research use of clinical data.
3. Discovering and managing new knowledge relating to health and disease.
4. Collecting, storing, processing, accessing, exchanging, protecting, and disclosing healthcare data
and information in electronic form.
5. Using software programs that are available for processing both quantitative and qualitative
research data.
