INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Statement of Problems

The study aims to determine the if there is a relationship between early age introduction

of gadgets and the English language proficiency level of grade 7 students of Pozorrubio,

Pangasinan. Specifically, it answers the questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents?

a. Age

b. Gender

c. Address

d. Age where they had their first gadget

e. Hours of gadget use per day

2. What is the English Proficiency Level of the respondents?

3. Is there a significant relationship between the early age gadget introduction and the

English Language proficiency of the respondents?

Hypothesis

There is a positive correlation between early age gadget introduction and the English

Language proficiency of the Grade 7 students of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan.

Theoretical Framework

The study takes basis on the theory of Connectivism by George Siemens. It states that knowledge

is a sequence of interconnected webs from different origins. It can be from social interactions,

experiences, and most especially digital observations. The interconnectedness of all knowledge
leads to learning (Siemens 2004). Gadgets are devices where people can connect worldwide. As

English is the universal language, the use of it is widespread across the internet.

Scope and Delimitations

The scope of this research will be limited to the study of the age of gadget introduction to

Grade 7 students of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. Specifically, the target respondents’ age of gadget

introduction is 10 years old or prior.

Significance of the Study

The proponents of this research intend to provide critical information and knowledge

regarding the impacts and implications of gadgets when they are introduced to children at an

early age. Specifically, it takes aim for:
