USC-NSTP should continue tasking students to do at-home planting,

especially during this time when we are not returning to full face-to-face classes. At
home, planting will help benefit our environment by increasing the circulation of
oxygen. Planting is also a very relaxing recreational activity for us to do. Having
plants in your house can be relaxing. Stress reduction, increased creativity,
productivity, and attention, as well as recuperation, are all benefits of indoor
gardening. There is some data that suggests houseplants may also improve the
quality of the air in your home. It is commonly known that gardening is good for
your health. The weight-bearing activity of gardening is beneficial for bones and the
heart, and being outside boosts your exposure to vitamin D. Even one study
discovered that gardening lowers the incidence of dementia.
