After completing the high school graduation exam in 2022 with a pretty good score, I got into the

school I always wanted - the university of social sciences and humanities, Vietnam National
University of Ho Chi Minh city. I feel ecstatic when I can be a new student in the Faculty of
English Linguistics And Literature of a school with good training quality. However, I am also
distressed about the long journey ahead because when I become a college student - an adult and
have to face things that I have never done before. That is a new journey, an exciting and arduous
journey. I understand that, so I know what I need to prepare for the new learning environment
and how I plan to study at university.

First, I had to get used to the new way of learning in the university environment. Start by setting
goals for each semester, categorizing the curriculum and subjects to have a specific study
method. During the four years of study, there are three main target groups as follows. Specialized
subjects: These are subjects that directly serve the field of study that you pursue. For example: If
you study English, your major will be Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing English, Literature,
Pragmatics, Translation, Interpreting, etc. General subjects: are foundational subjects. . . . . . The
foundation that university students need to learn is Ho Chi Minh's thought, Marxist-Leninist
philosophy, the Communist Party's guidelines, etc. The rest: subjects such as physical education,
physical training, sports,... .Defense Education ,. Set learning goals for each combination of
subjects and specific actions such as getting 8.5 points per subject each semester, how many
subjects to study, A grade in the main subject, and B + score so that when summarizing, you still
get the score. average as expected

Besides, I need to hone my foreign language skills in all 4 skills of listening, speaking, reading,
and writing fluently and develop other soft skills for future study and work.

The first year, the amount of specialized knowledge is not much, I will spend this free time to
expand my social relationships, learn soft skills and foreign languages. such as: join the campus
club, volunteer in the summer, register for soft skills and computer classes, sign up for an
English communication class, seek out opportunities to interact with international students
through programs cultural exchange and international cooperation. However, the most important
job for me is to study well and get good grades. In my 2nd year I will try to get certificates to
support my studies and resume like Ielts: I will practice Cambridge exam papers, read exam and
review tips and strategies, learn vocabulary every day and practice practice skills fully, in
addition, have a mos computer certificate to be able to master office operations. and for my
major, there is another important certificate that is non-specialized foreign language - Chinese, I
will have to practice skills to be able to complete the conditions for graduation later. I will also
improve hone necessary skills such as teamwork, problem solving, leadership skills or personal
planning... through courses, or through part-time jobs. There are many jobs suitable for students
such as: translation, tour guide, teaching assistant at English centers, receptionist, etc. In my third
year, I will study specialized subjects and look for job opportunities in my major and learn about
international scholarships and affiliate programs. In my fourth year, I will study and do my thesis
with all my might, get a gpa score and find myself a job as desired.
and finally during the four years of study i will try to cultivate and develop the inner part of the
person which is the ability to think critically, the ability to reflect, to manage the organization
and to deal with the problem of time management one by one. smart and effective way and try to
be someone who can care and listen to spread positive values to the community.

This is exactly what I think I need to do and clearly plan for a new journey that has been and is
going on, setting it up in an orderly and structured way so that I can have my own years. the most
effective and meaningful month of college right from my freshman year to define my clear path
after graduation and seize valuable opportunities through what I have learned and accumulated
after four precious years of university, I hope that with a clear and specific roadmap, I can
confidently enter the university gate with the most confident attitude.
