Generic Name: Cefuroxime

Brand Name: Zinacef

Dosage/Route/frequency: 750 mg IV q 8o ANST

Pharmacologic Classification: Cephalosporin, 2nd generation

Physiologic Classification: Antibiotic

Mechanism of Action: It acts by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis, thus, stopping the growth
of bacteria

Indication: Indicated for the treatment of a variety of infections including acute bacterial otitis media,
several upper respiratory tract infections, kin infections, and urinary tract infections.

Desired effects: It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth

Side effects: Dizziness, vomiting, weakness, rash, fatigues and itching or irritation

Adverse effect: hypo-prothrombinemia and diarrhea
