LITEHER Reflection Paper 1
Alan Turing is an influential British figure in the 20th century. He's commonly known
as the father of modern computer science. He worked previously for the United
Kingdom government as a code breaker in which he attempted to decode an
Enigma cipher machine which is a device used by the Germans and has done so
successfully.
After the war between the two countries ended, Turing continued to pursue
his bright ideas about computer science which led him to the construction of the
world's first true computers. Later on, he was convicted for a crime for having a
sexual relationship with a man, at that time it was deemed illegal. Turing was found
dead with suicide on June 8th of 1954 as a result of cyanide poisoning.
In the modes of power that include absolutist, juridical and disciplinary, I feel
as if in Alan Turing's case disciplinary was most executed. Disciplinary is
characterized by the efforts to manage disciplinary closure and interaction with
other disciplines. When making his Turing Machine, he applied the methods of code
breaking he decoded with the German Enigma.
