Abstract

“THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INQUIRY-BASED APPROACH IN ONLINE CLASS”,

ANGELA GAMUETA, PATRICIA OTTO, ALTHEA PANGAWILAN, Bachelor of

Elementary Education, Southern Mindanao Institute of Technology, Inc.Tacurong City,

This study “The effectiveness of Inquiry-based Approach in online class and its

effect on academic performance, was conducted to know the effect of Inquiry-Based

Approach in online class on the pre-test and post-test of the respondents and to

determine if there is a significant difference between the scores of experimental and

control groups.

The study was descriptive quantitative in nature, using random sampling

technique. The study was conducted at Southern Mindanao Institute of Technology,

Inc., Academic Year 2021-2022. The respondents were the Third Year, Bachelor of

Elementary Education. The researchers utilized a test question that have been

administered to the respondents in the form of pre- test and post-test. The statistical

treatments used in this study were standard deviation and t-test.

After the data were statistically treated and analyzed, it was found out that the scores

of the pre-test of the two groups got the passing mark but there is no significant

difference between the pre-test scores of the Experimental and Control Group, while the

scores of the post test of the two groups got the passing mark and there is a significant
difference between the post test of the two (2) groups. Based on the mean gain score of

the two (2) groups the students in the control group performed better that the students

in the experimental group. And there is a significant difference between the mean gain

scores of the experimental and control group.

Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that teachers should

continue to use Traditional way of teaching strategies.
