When reinstalling the


axle shaft, the opening of
the "C" clip must be facing down.

20a Bracket for rpm sensor 91a Follower joint
37 Rear axle shaft 97a Track rod joint

Remove, Install

Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts All models AH00.00-N-0001-01A

1 Remove rear wheels


Removing and installing wheels, AP40.10-P-4050GH
rotating if necessary
2 Remove hexagon collared nut (12) on Replace self-locking hexagon
rear axle shaft collared nut.

Apply parking brake.

3 Detach bracket for rpm sensor (20a) BA35.20-P-1006-07A


from wheel carrier
4 Remove rpm sensor (L6/3) AR42.40-P-0820GH
5 Push follower joint (91a) on upper AR35.20-P-0107-
transverse control arm out of wheel 01GH
carrier
BA35.20-P-1002-07A

Thrust piece 129 589 10 63 00

Support 163 589 01 43 00

Press 163 589 03 43 00

6 Press track rod joint (97a) out of wheel AR35.20-P-0109-


carrier 01GH
BA35.20-P-1002-04B

Thrust piece 140 589 00 63 00

Puller 202 589 02 33 00

7 Pull rear axle shaft (37) out of rear axle Do not damage the rubber boot or
shaft flange rpm sensor rotor.

Compress rear axle shaft as far as

the stop in the direction of the rear axle


center assembly. Swing wheel carrier
out towards the front.
If the rear axle shaft is difficult to
remove:
Press rear axle shaft out of rear axle AR35.30-P-0115-03B
shaft flange

Removal and installation tool 210 589 03 43 00

Bracket 210 589 01 40 00

8 Press rear axle shaft (37) out of rear Installation: To facilitate assembly AR35.30-P-0620-
axle center assembly turn the locking ring until the opening is 01GH
at the bottom.
9 Check joints and rubber boots for leaks If a joint is defective:
and damage
Replace entire rear axle shaft.

If rubber boots are leaking or


damaged:
Replace rubber boots on rear axle AR35.30-P-0665GH
shaft
10 Replace locking ring (37o)
11 Install in the reverse order
