SOP description: EMERGENCY HANDLING DURING ONE FD FAN TRIP

1. PURPOSE: Stabilize the affected unit


2. SCOPE: All three Boiler units
3. RESPONSIBILITY: Desk Engineer/1st & 2nd Class boiler operator
4. DURATION: 20 MINS

5. OUTPUT: Restore and stabilize the Boiler when one FD fan trips

6. PROCEDURE:

6.1 Corresponding FD fan flow should be increased to maximum level i.e 185000 m3/hr, 35
amps being the full load current.
6.2 Id fan scoop adjusted in such way that furnace draft should be kept at -0.05kpa, normally
after tripping of one FD fan the furnace pressure reduces to -0.50Kpa
6.3 If boiler is operating with three mill operation then stop one mill immediately and take one
oil gun for flame support
6.4 Bring the Boiler load down to 162 tph to 170tph for preventing the overloading of the
remaining FD fan
6.5 According to boiler load maintain the o2 2to 3%

6.6 Communicate to all department for fault finding

6.7 To check the furnace 4.5 & 2.5 mtr flame
6.8 To check the furnace centre and all corner flame to ensure there is no flame flickering
6.9 To check the furnace draft firing floor and roof header
6.10 To check the vibration ,bearing temperature, oil level & cooling water inlet & outlet flow
of the remaining running fan

7. QUALITY

7.1. All the parameters, activities are maintained as per the manual.
7.2. Any deviation is recorded and corrective action is taken accordingly.

9. OHSAS:

9.1 Persons deployed on the work must use safety helmets, shoes, goggles, dust masks & hand gloves.
9.2 Before starting of any operation, ensure all standard clearance from main control room and
shift in charge.
9.3 Ensure deployment of a group of people (2 or more) while carrying out job in an isolated or deserted place in
night shift.
