My father is a great man. He could be a father and a best friend for his children. Unlike

at the school. As a mathematics teacher, he is very loved by his students. A friendly

The largest and strongest animals. It is a strange looking animal with its thick legs, huge sides
and backs, large hanging ears, a small tail, little eyes, long white tusks and above all it has a long nose,
the trunk.
The trunk is elephant’s peculiar feature, and it has various uses. The elephant draws up water
by its trunk and can squirt it all over its body like a shower bath. It can also lift leaves and puts them
into its mouth. In fact the trunk serves the elephant as a long arm and hand. An elephant looks very

Once upon the time, somewhere in the deep of the jungle, The Birds and the Beasts declared war
against each other. No compromise was possible, and so they went at it tooth and claw. It is said the
quarrel grew out of the persecution the race of Geese suffered at the teeth of the Fox family. The
Beasts, too, had cause for fight. The Eagle was constantly pouncing on the Hare, and the Owl dined
daily on Mice. It was a terrible battle. Many a Hare and many a Mouse died. Chickens and Geese fell
by the score—and the victor always stopped for a feast. Meanwhile the Bat family had not openly
joined either side. They were a very politic race. So when they saw the Birds getting the better of it,
they were Birds for all there was in it. But when the tide of battle turned, they immediately sided with
the Beasts. When the battle was over, the conduct of the Bats was discussed at the peace conference.
Such deceit was unpardonable, and Birds and Beasts made common cause to drive out the Bats. And
since then the Bat family hides in dark towers and deserted ruins, flying out only in the night.

Last week my friend and I were bored after three weeks of holidays, so we rode our bikes to Smith
Beach, which is only five kilometers from where I live. When we arrived at the beach, we were
surprised to see there was hardly anyone there.
After having a quick dip in the ocean, which was really cold, we realized one reason there were not
many people there. It was also quite windy. After we bought some hot chips at the take away store
nearby, we rode our bikes down the beach for a while, on the hard, damp part of the sand. We had the
wind behind us and, before we knew it, we were many miles down the beach.
Before we made the long trip back, we decided to paddle our feet in the water for a while, and then sit
down for a rest. While we were sitting on the beach, just chatting, it suddenly dawned on us that all the
way back, we would be riding into the strong wind.
When we finally made it back home, we were both totally exhausted! But we learned some good

Lightning is a sudden, violent flash of electricity between a cloud and the ground, or from
cloud to cloud.
A lightning flash, or bolt, can be several miles long. It is so hot, with an average temperature of
34,000° Centigrade that makes the air around it suddenly expand with a loud blast. This is the thunder
we hear. Lightning occurs in hot, wet storms. Moist air is driven up to great height. It forms a type of
cloud called cumolo nimbus. When the cloud rises high enough, the moisture freezes. And then ice
crystals and snowflakes are formed. These begin to fall, turning to rain on the way down. This rain
meets more moist air rising, and it is the friction between them which produces static electricity. When
a cloud is fully charged with this electricity, it discharges as a lighting flash.
Once upon a time, there was a little boy, who was poor, dirty, and smelly, came into a
little village. He was very hungry and weak. He knocked at every door and asked for some food,
but nobody cared about him. Nobody wanted to help the little boy. Finally, a generous old
woman helped him. She gave him shelter and a meal. When the boy wanted to leave, the old
woman gave him a “lesung”, a big wooden mortar for pounding rice.
She reminded him, “Please remember, if there is a flood you must save yourself. Use this
“lesung” as a boat”.
The little boy was happy and thanked the old woman. The little boy continued his
journey. While he was passing through the village, where he had asked for food, he saw many
people gathering on the field. The boy came closer and saw a stick stuck in the ground. People
challenged each other to pull it out. Everybody tried, but nobody succeeded.
“Can I try?” asked the little boy.
The crowd laughed mockingly. The boy wanted to try his luck so he stepped forward
and pulled out the stick. He could do it very easily. Everybody was dumbfounded. Suddenly,
from the hole left by stick, water spouted out. It did not stop until it flooded the village. And no
one was saved from the water except the little boy and the generous old woman who gave him
shelter and meal. As she told him, he used the “lesung” as a boat and picked up the old woman.
