Hall (314) Course Description This course will include a close examination of basic principles of CONTRACT LAW, the contract documents, and certain alternative forms of contracts. The relationship of each contracting party to the other will be identified and remedies to balance the risks involved in construction will be discussed. Course Objectives The purpose of this course is to provide a complete introduction to the principles of Egyptian Civil law and introduces the most commonly used forms of construction contracts, and the application of contract law to construction contractual relationships between the various parties involved in a construction project.
Intended Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate their ability to: 1. Explain different methods of project delivery and the roles and responsibilities of all contracting parties, in order to assess the risk for the parties to a project. 2. Compare the various construction contracts; understand the meaning and purpose of the various contracts. 3. Formulate construction contracts documents for the Tendering process. 4. Apply bid evaluation and selection methods take into account an appropriate balance between cost and quality. 5. Analyze a construction contract case study, develop opinions and conclusions based on the contract documents. 6. Inclusion of a key clauses during the construction contract drafting. 7. Identify Risks associated with construction contract amendments, and know the Strategies for allocating risk within the contract. 8. Perform practices for construction contract administration and project execution. 9. Communicate effectively. 10. Search for information and engage in life-long self-learning discipline.
