by illustration.

Solution 1: By using a number line.

Solution 2: Use the place value chart.

Ask the pupils to work in groups in solving the problem.

Step 1: Arranged the numbers vertically. Then add the numbers from 5.715 km right to left. Put
the decimal point on its corresponding place

Step 2:Arranged the numbers vertically. Subtract the numbers from 1.814 km right to left. Put
the decimal point on its corresponding place.

D. Developing Mastery (Explain)

Processing the Activities

After all the groups have presented their answers, look back at the given example.

many trucks will be needed to load the order.
In division of simple fractions, we use multiplicative inverses or reciprocals. Two numbers are

reciprocals of each other if their product is 1.

E. Application and Generalization (Elaborate)

To divide a whole number by a fraction:

 Change the divisor to its reciprocal.

 Change the division sign to multiplication sign.

 Simplify or cancel if necessary.

 Multiply the numerators, then the denominators.

 Express the answer in lowest

F. Evaluation
Directions: Find each quotient. Reduce the answer to lowest terms if possible.
a) 7/8 ÷ 6= N
b) 3/7 ÷21 = N
c) 2/3 ÷ 3= N
d) 3/4 ÷ 4= N
e) 8/9 ÷6 = N
