HOW TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE?

Accurate measurement ….
SI UNIT (K)
Temperature describes the average kinetic energy of
molecules within a material or system and is measured in
Kelvin(K), Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F).
Celsius to Fahrenheit ° F = 9/5 (° C) + 32
Fahrenheit to Celsius ° C = 5/9 (° F - 32)
Celsius to Kelvin K = ° C + 273.15
Kelvin to Celsius ° C = K – 273.15

Temperature Conversion Formulas

Example:
Calculate for the normal body temperature in scale of
Fahrenheit and Kelvin. Tnormal body = 370C
A. Tnormal body = 370C
0F = 9/5 (370C) + 32
0F = 66.6 + 32 = 98.6 0F
B. K= 37+273.15 = 310.15 K

Kelvin to Celsius
C= 310.15 - 273.15 = 370C
HEAT
A form of energy that is
transferred from one body
to another due to
difference in temperature.
Heat

A measure of a total KE and

PE in the system
Heat Transfer
Calorimeter

Device for measuring the heat developed during

a mechanical, electrical, or chemical reaction,
and for calculating the heat capacity of materials

Units of measurements:

Joule
Calorie 1 cal = 4.186 Joules
Remember:
Heat is absorbed ----------------------positive change in temperature

Heat is given off ---------------------- negative change in temperature

LIFE
LESSON

All objects posses KE

When heat is absorbed in gains

KE as result they move faster

As human being we can give or

share energy to help people ,
animals and environment.
