WORKSHEET 1

UNIT 3
UNDERSTANDING AN AUDIENCE IN CREATIVE MEDIA PRODUCTION

1
1.1
Please list at least 3 research methods you have used on the course so far.
Primary research When I made my horror poster, I showed people in the class my design to see if they
liked it. I did make some changes when I showed it to my teacher.
Secondary research I found using worksheets helped me on the Blair Witch Project. All 7-worksheet
helped me focus on what I needed to look at.
Contextual Research Before we made our trailer, we looked at shot types, this was helpful for making
videos.

1.1
What is qualitive research?
Qualitative research is a type of research that aims to gather and analyse non-numerical data in order to gain
an understanding of individuals' social reality, including understanding their attitudes, beliefs, and motivation
Sourced from Google.
I understand this as open questions on forms or surveys it qualitive because there is more detail.

What is quantitative research?

Quantitative research is a research strategy that focuses on quantifying the collection and analysis of data. It
is formed from a deductive approach where emphasis is placed on the testing of theory, shaped by empiricist
and positivist philosophies
Sourced from Google
I understand this as closed questions on a form or survey there is less detail, its easier to read and make
graphs.

What is primary research?

Is research you do yourself, like getting feedback from my peers from chats in class or make a survey.
What is secondary research?
Is research someone else has already done, I can find this on the internet, in books, on tv.

 What worked well?
Use of camera – My shots match the trailer we were shown in class.

Use of sound (Music/ dialogue/effects) – The lines Elizabeth recorded sounded good and worked with
the videos well.
Narrative – From my trailer I think people will want to know what has happened to the teenagers.

Writing skills (Scripts/synopsis/questionaries/surveys/taglines/evaluations) – Having worksheets

helped me with my writing as I knew I had to fill out all the boxes.

Research Skills (Secondary research of short films) – Using the worksheets to look at the trailer helped
keep me focused.

What would you do differently and why?

Use of camera – we needed to not taken as long to record each shot for the video
Use of editing should of asked for more help as I find it hard to concentrate and remember what ben
has said
Use of sound (Music/ dialogue/effects) making sure each audio sounds the same for the trailer
Watch videos to try and help me
Narrative trying to concentrate and trying to make my words and punctuation better to read.
