TITLE OF THE Reading Breakdown

READING 1. What is the reading all about?
It was all about the Rizal Law, officially designated as Republic Act No. 1425,
wherein it is a Philippine law that mandates all educational institutions in the
Republic Act Philippines to offer courses about José Rizal. The Rizal Law, in any case, was
1425 emphatically restricted by the Catholic Church in the Philippines, much
appreciated to the anti-clerical subjects that were pertinent in Rizal's books
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.

2. What did you learn from the article?

I have learned that we have to recognize the importance of Rizal's ideals and
teachings in relation to present conditions and situations in the society. To
encourage the application of such ideals in current social and personal
problems and issues. Moreover, to develop an appreciation and deeper
understanding of all that Rizal fought and died for.

3. How does the article relate to the lesson?

The bill is basically about appreciating and giving value to how Rizal gave us
courage to be able to regain the strength in our hearts as Filipinos. The Rizal
Bill was approved because leaders in the past hope that in that simple way,
the students may be able to understand, learn or even imitate Rizal's Love to
our country.

How does it develop and/or promote nationalism to you?

Rizal’s novels awakened Philippine nationalism because most of his writings,
both in his essays and editorials, centered on individual rights and freedom,
specifically for the Filipino people.

How does it develop and/or promote patriotism to you?

I can say that Rizal Law is very effective in instilling patriotism among us
students because we are encourage to become a better citizen and when Dr.
Rizal said “The Youth is the Hope of the Fatherland” it has impact whoever
heard about this to become more responsible and love our country. Since the
essence of the republic act 1425 is to encourage patriotism which gives
opportunity or allow students to see the life of Rizal.

How does it develop and/or promote volunteerism to you?

As a Filipino, we have to take pride in our values because it reflects who we
are as a people. Studying Rizal’s life gives us values about helping each other
and working together. Rizal focused towards a common goal which is fighting
for the rights of the Filipinos and it obviously continue to manifest in our
present times because the Rizal Law was implemented.
