LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS


Grade 9

CONTENT STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of


parallelograms and triangle similarity.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learner is able to investigate, analyze, and solve


problems involving parallelograms and triangle similarity through appropriate and
accurate representation.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES:

Learners will be able to …

A. identify quadrilaterals that are parallelogram. (M9GE – IIIa-1)


B. determine the conditions that make a quadrilateral a parallelogram. (M9GE-IIIa-
2)
C. uses properties to find measures of angles, sides and other quantities involving
parallelograms. (M9GE-IIIb-1)
D. proves theorems on the different kinds of parallelogram (rectangle, rhombus,
square). (M9GE-IIIc-1)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, the students can able to:
A. recall the different kinds of quadrilaterals;
B. identify quadrilaterals that are parallelogram; and
C. appreciate the importance of quadrilaterals in real-life.

Instructional Materials: Laptop, Blackboard, Chalk

III. PRESENTATION
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standards
5. Review
6. Motivation
The students will perform the activity “Tell Me, Yes or No?”
B. Procedures
1. Activity 2 (Guess Me)
a. The teacher will show pictures on the TV Screen and let each learner
study the features of each picture.
b. After that, the teacher will ask some questions base from the activity

2. Analysis
The students will be given the following questions.
a. What have you observed on the pictures shown on the TV screen?
b. Which of the pictures represents a quadrilateral?
c. Can you give some significance of their designs?
d. What kind of quadrilaterals are shown by the pictures?

3. Abstraction
The students will make a generalization out of the lesson discussed.
a. What is a quadrilateral?
b. What are the kinds of quadrilaterals.

4. Application
a. The teacher will divide the class into eleven groups.
b. The teacher will provide the materials needed.
c. Each group will select a leader to lead the group and a member to
write their answer.
d. On the TV monitor, the teacher will flash set of points and let the
students plot, connect, and identify it.
IV. ASSESSMENT
The students will do the activity “Which Is Which?”

V. ASSIGNMENT
The students will do the activity “Refresh Your Mind?”
