Good morning, Sir Jov!

(Students arranging the chairs.)

What are you going to do with these rules? Obey and follow Sir.

You must obey and follow.

(Checking of attendance)

I will check your attendance based on your seat Yes Sir.

plan. Are you in your proper seat right now?

Very good class, no one is absent today.

(Review)
Alcazar: Our topic yesterday sir is about
Who can recall our topic yesterday? Yes, Alcazar.
Union and Intersection of an event.

Thank you, Alacazar.

What is the difference between Union and
Intersection of events? Yes, Bacolod
Bacolod: A union refers to an area that is said
to be belonging to one or both of two events.
B. MOTIVATION In contrast, an intersection is an area that is

three (3) groups. After that, the teacher

will show the scrambled letters to the
students and let them guess the given
letter.

Group 1: TYILPORBABI
Group 2: DNCMOOUP
Group 3: TVEEN
Group 1 answer: PROBABILITY
Group 2 answer: COMPOUND
A: LESSON PROPER Group 3 answer: EVENT

a. Activity (5 minutes)

Before we proceed to our proper discussion, let’s

have first an activity. Who wants to have an activity
class?

That’s great! All: Me Sir (raising their hands)

Some: yes sir

Some: no sir
“SOLVE ME” 7
All: sir

b.

Students: It was fun sir

Analysis (3 minutes)

 How did you find the activity?

Aljohn: sir, I just count the sample space with

at least one head.
 What strategy do you use in order to easily
find the heads?
Joshua: sir, because we are trying to get the

probability of a union of two events?

Slightly correct, to fully understand the topic

I will discuss today the probability of a union of two

events. Please listen carefully because at the end
of our discussion, you are expected to define
compound event , find the probability of a union of
two events, appreciation on the importance of
probability in real-life.

ABSTRACTION:

Let us first define compound events.

What comes into your mind when you hear the

compound events? Emejas: mixing sir?
Thank you for sharing your idea, Emejas.

Compound event-is composed of two or more

simple events. The conjunction “and “or “or” are
used to denote compound events.

The probability of two events is obtained by adding

the probability of each event.

P (A or B) = P (A U B) = P (A)+P(B)

If A and B are in the same sample space, then the

probability of A or B occurring is:

P (A or B) = P (A U B) = P(A)+ P(B)- P (A∩ B ¿

Example: 1
a. How many math clubs’ members?
b. How many possible outcomes? Aljohn: 31 sir

45 possible outcomes? Are you sure class?

Students: There are 45 sir
count it again.

Now Aljohn how many possible outcomes do we (The student is counting)

have? 31+15+9….

Aljohn: 50 sir
Very good. So, there is 31 favorable outcome and
50 possible outcomes, therefore

31
P(M)=
50

EXAMPLE: 1.1

Joshua, please stand up and answer the following

questions:

a. How many Science clubs’ members?

Joshua: 15 sir
b. How many possible outcomes?

Very good, now what is the final

answer, Joshua? Joshua: 50 sir

Exactly Joshua. Very Good. So, there is 15

favorable outcome and 50 possible outcomes,
therefore
15 3
Joshua: ∨ sir
15 3 50 10
P(S)= ∨
50 10

Do you have any question about the discussion

class?
Students: None sir
One and only reminder class, your answer should
be on the simplified form. Okay?

Students: Yes sir

APPLICATION:

Group activity

Now let’s apply your understanding.

I will divide the group into 3.
I will flash on the screen the situation and your task
are in this piece of paper.

Then I will provide the materials needed and you will

write your answer here in the manila paper.
I’ll give you 5 minutes and after that choose a
representative to present your work.
Go now to your groups. Move silently. Don’t make
any noise.
You may now start.

(The teacher flash on the screen the situation) (The students move silently to their groups.)
