Fillings and Toppings – TLE 09

Aguilar, Ayesha Gabrielle

1) Frosting
Frosting is the most common type of filling.
Birthday cakes frequently use this filling.
Vanilla frosting and chocolate frosting are
the two most popular kinds of frosting.

Butter, milk, and powdered sugar are

ingredients in the frosting. It has a silky
texture that can give cakes a delicious
taste.

2) Whipped Cream

Whipped cream is a frequently used cake

filling. It has a soft texture because it is
made using heavy cream. Simply spread
heavy whipping cream between the
layers for a perfect finish. You can also go
for a delicious chocolate flavor simply by
mixing melted chocolate into whipped
cream.
3) Ganache

The cream-based chocolate liquid

known as ganache has an almost syrup-
like texture. This filling is ideal for
moistening each layer of the cake and
bringing out the lovely, smooth
chocolate flavor and texture. The
flexible product chocolate ganache
can also be used as a filling for other
dishes and pastries.

4) Custard

Custard is sometimes used as the

filling in cakes. Cornstarch, flour,
sugar, and egg yolks are the
ingredients that give custard its
uniquely creamy texture.

The method for creating custard is

different. The ingredients must be slowly boiled until the mixture thickens. It
should be wrapped in plastic and kept in the refrigerator. However, take
care not to freeze your custard as this could alter its texture. To your custard
cream, you can also add other flavorings like vanilla.
5) Buttercream

Buttercream filling is frequently used. It

has a unique texture as well, a thick
consistency due to the presence of
butter and sugar. To create a chocolate
buttercream, add melted chocolate. To
make buttercream with a fruit flavor,
you can also add vanilla or fruit puree.
