MINUTES OF MEETING/ MEMORENDUM OF

UNDERSTANDING

(SUPERCEDES ALL PCC, GCC, PTS, GTS)

1) The employer shall provide motor able approach road throughout the head raise pipe & penstock
pipe alignment to the contractor free of cost.
2) All necessary accommodations for staff and workers shall be constructed by the contractor himself
whereas the developed land at safe area with motor able approach road shall be provided by
employer Free of cost.
3) All Necessary Formalities related to land such as acquisition, compensations, agreements or any
other formality related to land acquisition and land preparation shall be in the scope of employer.
4) All setup for workshop including equipment, structure and machinery shall be constructed by the
contractor himself whereas developed land to setup the workshop shall be provided by employer to
contractor Free of cost.
5) Unloading of all materials defined under scope of H.M. works is in the scope of contractor.
6) Local Transportation of all materials from workshop up to area of installation is in the scope of
contractor. However, Double handling if any shall be borne by the employer.
7) Electricity at workshop and camp including all relevant charges shall be in the scope of contractor.
8) Painting specifications-:
9) PAINTING SPECIFICATION OF HEADRACE PIPE & PENSTOCK PIPE.
Surface preparation through sand blasting.
Two coats of zinc rich primer with minimum DFT of 35 micron each per coat. Total DFT shall not be
less than 70 microns for primer.
Two Coats of High build Coal Tar Epoxy Paint with minimum DFT of 105 microns shall be applied.
Total final thickness of paint including primer shall not be less than 280 microns.
External surface of headrace pipe and penstock pipe to be embedded in concrete shall not be
painted. However, one coat of cement latex paint shall be applied for proper bonding with
concrete.

10. PAINTING SPECIFICATION FOR GATES & EMBEDDED PARTS

Surface preparation through sand blasting.


Two coats of zinc rich primer with minimum DFT of 40 micron each per coat. Total DFT shall not be less
than 80 microns for primer.
Two Coats High build Coal Tar Epoxy Paint with minimum DFT of 110 microns per coat.
Total thickness of paint including primer shall not be less than 300 microns.
11. NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
DPT 100% for both longitudinal and girth joint.
UT 100% for pipe having thickness greater than 12mm for both longitudinal and circumferential joints
RT 5% random test
100% Visual Inspection mandatory
Objectionable defects in welds discovered during the above tests, shall be repaired and 100% RT or
UT along with DPT again

12.) The Drainage walls and air release walls shall be provided by the employer but installed by the
contractor free of Cost. Employer to arrange for supervisor for installation of air release walls and
drainage walls at his own cost.

13.) All reference and survey points required for installations of penstock pipe, head raise pipe and
other H.M. equipment shall be provided by the employer. Employer to depute surveyor at his own
cost to carry out the said works.

14.) Any Local Disturbances/ Hindrances/ Problems caused due to locals or local issues are to be
handled by the employer.

15.) The employer shall be responsible to supply water to contractor Free of cost at a point at
workshop. However, any further arrangements for distribution of water pipeline shall be in the
scope of contractor. Water quality shall be as per WHO guidelines.

16.) Only Bifurcation shall be hydrostatically tested at contractor’s workshop at country of origin.
