The preliminary phytochemical screening showed the presence of carbohydrates, saponins, phenolics, tannins, alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids, and triterpenoids. Tests were conducted for each constituent and observations were recorded to determine whether each was present or absent in the sample. Proteins, amino acids, and fixed oils and fats were found to be absent based on the results of the tests.
