Lesson Plan
1. Level Primary School
2. Time 90 minutes
3. Topic Free Time Activities
4. Aims - To help learners extend their vocabulary
- To develop learners’ speaking and listening skill
5. Material Flash card, Short story (Video for listening activity)
6. Procedure - Begin the class as usual.
- Introduce the learners that in this lesson they will practice playground
vocabulary, listen to a story about a dog in the park (Video downloadable)
and practice speaking about their free-time activities.
- Hold up one of cards, e.g. the ‘swings’ picture card and say I like playing on
the swings. Do you like the swings? Tell the learners to put up their hand if
they like playing on the swings. Do the same with the other picture cards.
- Now ask the learners to listen and repeat the playground words after you as
you show them the cards.
- Spread out the picture and word cards face up on the floor. Ask for volunteers
to match the pictures with the correct words. It is to see if they could already
grasp the vocabulary.
- After introducing the vocabulary through flashcard, play the first part of the
story “NO DOGS” (where they are outside school) to the class. Pause and ask
the learners questions about what they can see on the screen, e.g. Where are
they? Is there a cat? Who is this?
- Play a little more of the story and pause when the park can be seen on screen.
Now ask the class what they can see in the park. Ask for hands up to give
answers.
- Play the rest of the story. Did the learners like the story? Ask them if the dog
was happy. Why (not)?
- After the listening practice, ask the learners to tell you activities they do in the
playground/park/at home (e.g. playing on the swings, playing hide and seek,
playing computer games).
- Ask individual learners, Do you like …? Encourage them to answer Yes, I do;
No, I don’t or It’s OK. Drill questions and answers by asking the learners to
repeat after you.
- Now ask learners to ask and answer the same questions in pairs. Get two
stronger learners to demonstrate this first to the class. Walk around the class,
listen, help if necessary and praise your learners.

Lesson Plan
Level :
1. Level Speaking I
2. Time 2 meetings
3. Topic Daily Activity
4. Aims - To help learners focus on words and expressions used to tell about
daily activity.
- To help learners practice telling their daily activity effectively
5. Procedure o Introduce learners with the problem to discuss. Give an illustration
on the problem in Bhs. Indonesia.
o Invite learners to recognize general types of daily activity.
o Write them on the board in Bhs. Indonesia.
- Bangung tidur,
- Pergi ke kamar mandi, mandi, dan menggosok gigi
- Berpakaian
- Etc.
o Ensure to provide enough expressions before mentioning them in
English. Unless learners will find difficulty grasping the idea. Repeat
them so that all learners can say them well.
o As learners can say the expressions easily, invite them to place the
word ‘Saya’ before each expression, and let the learners say them;
- Saya bangun tidur,
- Saya pergi (ke) kamar madi,
- Saya mandi,
- Saya menggosok gigi,
- Saya berpakaian, etc
o Say all the expressions completed with the word ‘I’ to automatically
form sentences, and then ask the learners to repeat.
o Provide appropriate time for any activities and place the time at the
end of the sentences. - I get up at four a.m.
o Just after learners can catch the idea and can do it properly, we then
can add adverb of frequency to the sentences.
- I usually /always get up at four a.m.
o Provide some conjunctions to make the description sounds natural.
However, keep in mind that mentioning the terms is not permitted.
- I usually get up at four a.m. After getting up, I go to bathroom ...
o Ask each learner to try to tell the activity provided and give enough
help before asking them to list their own daily activity in
chronological order.
o Ask the learners to practice describing their daily activity in couple
and give them enough time to practice before asking each learner
present their activity to the class.
o While presentation section, encourage learners to perform any
questions to the presenter.
