Introduction

First and foremost, I am very glad to partake in the Taylor’s ProPASSION Communications

for our final year project in Public Relations (PR) Consultancy because our assignment is

based on a real-life experience. I would also like to thank Miss Manickam Govindaraju for

assigning this project to us by collaborating with Sarawak Tourism Board. Our partnership

with the Sarawak Tourism board does not only help the students to improve their skills but it

can also prepare the students to experience a real life working experience as public relations.

In the same time, this partnership can also facilitate the Taylor’s University with the future

locals and internationals organisations.

As part of Taylor’s ProPASSION Communications, our teams have proposed an event called

the “Kolok Fest” to discover the wonders of Sarawak. The objective of our “Kolok Fest”

event is to boost the number of visitors to visit Sarawak in 2019 by targeting the market in

West Malaysia, particularly Kuala Lumpur. The following objective is to adjust the

perceptions of the younger generation towards Sarawak through creative offline and online

means. Next, our company also aim to increase the visibility of Sarawak by engaging with at

least 3,000 publics (students), and at least 500 online insights. Besides that, we also aim to

increase the number of likes and engagement on both STB’s Facebook and Instagram by

15%.

In this project, I was assigned to the marketing department who is in charged by Koh Shee

Ching. My role in the marketing department is to work as a public relations executive to

prepare media materials such as the press release [Appendix A]. In the same time, I am also

helping with the social media teams to prepare the writing materials for the promotional
content online before it is posted up by using our social media platforms at the

ProPASSION’s Facebook, Instagram and Taylor’s University Portal [Appendix B]. Besides

that, I am also helping the logistics department to find the contacts for the vendors, caterers

and performers as I have a friend who has a contact with the Persatuan Warisan Sarawak

(Sarawak Heritage Association) in Kuala Lumpur [Appendix C].
