Reports to the Logistic Officer (country), or Finance and Admin officer (portfolio)

Purpose of the Job


The position holder is responsible for providing transportation service for SNV
program implementation in Ethiopia-Particularly within Amhara region in line
with SNV vehicle management policy and SNV safety and security procedures at
all times. The position holder also responsible for supporting the Finance team,
Logistics and procurement teams as required.

Key Activities Results
Vehicle operations and Safety Clean and safe vehicle
Respect and abide by Trafic laws and SNV’s Vehicle fleet management ready for use
policy; ensure that the vehicle is fit for field travel upon inspection
before long distance travel; check inventory (eg first aid kit, second
tire etc) and status of the vehicle, identify any damage and report
these to supervisor.
Driving and Communication Safe driving
Drive passengers or deliver errands within the identified areas, following resulting in timely
the traffic regulations, safety instructions and situations and based on the arrival of
travel arrangements of the passengers and/or delivery requirements; passengers/goods
respect and abide by Traffic laws and SNV’s vehicle fleet management policy at destination

Technical Maintenance Safe vehicles and


Regularly check and perform minor maintenance works in case of cost conscience and
technical problems in the field where there is no garage with sustainable
consultation and knowledge of your supervisor; and facilitate for further reparations of
periodic maintenance identify technical malfunctions, check potential technical
repair alternatives, and/or send for repair, in consultation with the malfunctions
supervisor in case of complex and/or costly repair
Administration Up to date
Effective use of logbook and keep record about the vehicle
journey, all driving activities, fuel and lubricants added as well administratio
as any incidents and accidents; arrange and keep track of n
periodical service schedule and insurance
Additional Logistical and liaison Activities Support of other staff or
Execute support activities up on request: support finance team-payment of teams
taxes, cash transfer and other bank related tasks (i.e assist in logistic
activities, or handle cash disbursement at field training sites, etc. etc.)
Planning and Coordination (additional for Driver level I) Cost conscience and
Plan transport, coordinate drivers, contact and contract suppliers and efficient
garages for maintenance and services, ensure valid insurances for planning and
fleet and check and document valid driver license of all persons driving smooth
SNV Vehicles operations

SNV Basic Requirements

Education Driver II
 Minimum high school complete :10th/12th grade and/or vocational
training in auto mechanics.
 Having a valid 3rd grade driving license is a minimum
requirement
Experience  Have at least five years of work experience in driving 4WD field
vehicles
 Having good communication skills and logistics/procurement
related experience is added advantage
 Basic Auto mechanics knowledge and skill is a requirement
 Punctuality is a requirement
 Trustworthiness is a requirement
 Basic computer knowledge in Outlook, Word and Excel
